Romney may name running mate early in election race
(Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney acknowledged on Tuesday he is considering naming his choice to serve as vice presidential running mate earlier than usual to better compete with President Barack Obama.
As they work from a short list of leading Republicans, Romney and his advisers say they are weighing whether he should announce his choice some weeks earlier than the traditional time of around the Republican National Convention, which is to be held in Tampa in late August.
The reasoning, advisers say, is that two candidates would be able to raise more money and engage Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in battle with polls showing Americans closely divided on whether to pick the Republican challenger or Democratic incumbent in the November 6 election.
Picking the choice early could also serve to guarantee some positive news coverage at a time when Romney is under fire from Obama over whether he should release more financial information about his wealth.
The subject of when to announce the pick was brought up by a voter at a lively town hall meeting Romney held in a high school gymnasium in Grand Junction, the largest city in western Colorado. The man asked whether Romney would announce his vice presidential choice before the convention.
"I can't give you the timeline for that. That's a decision we'll make down the road. Nor can I give you the individual," said Romney.
Romney is to attend the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in London in two weeks in a trip that will also take him to Jerusalem. Should he choose to name his choice early, then he would have next week as an option for a proper rollout, or he could wait until he returns from abroad and announce his pick in early August.
The Romney campaign refuses to discuss the selection process other than to say Romney is working on it with close confidant Beth Myers.
Romney said his bottom line requirement is his running mate must be "a person who could be president if that were necessary."
His short list is believed to include a host of leading Republicans, including Ohio Senator Rob Portman and former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, as well as Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and Florida Senator Marco Rubio.
Pawlenty and Jindal toured parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania last week to respond to Obama attacks on Romney, while Portman wrote an op-ed piece for an Ohio newspaper. Rubio is to headline a fund-raiser for Romney on Friday. Portman held one for him on Monday.
Romney is also considering whether to name a woman, his wife, Ann, said in a recent CBS interview.
Her comment put the spotlight on New Hampshire Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte, who has been an active surrogate for Romney on the campaign trail but as a first-term senator may lack the experience necessary.
Another prominent Republican woman, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, has said repeatedly she is not interested in serving as the VP choice.
Buffeted daily by attacks from the Obama camp, Romney made clear he was relishing the chance to go toe to toe with Obama in a series of three debates this autumn.
"By the way, I can't wait for the debates to have a chance to go face-to-face with the president," he said.

House GOP poised to hold vote on repeal of ObamaCare after Supreme Court ruling
House Republican leaders are forging ahead with plans to hold a
vote Wednesday on a full repeal of President Obama's health care law,
after launching debate on the repeal measure Tuesday nearly two weeks
after the Supreme Court upheld most of the law as constitutional.
Wednesday will mark the chamber's second vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act in full, though this attempt is being given no greater chance of passing the Democratic-controlled Senate. Obama has vowed to veto any such measure, were it to reach his desk.
House Republicans have held 29 other votes aiming to gut specific parts of the law since 2011.
The House Rules Committee on Monday allotted five hours of floor debate for the latest measure. Lawmakers plowed through four and a half hours on Tuesday, with the remaining time set aside for the day of the vote.
Democrats accused the Republicans of wasting time with a display of political theater instead of focusing attention on helping the economy.
“We could spend five hours talking about jobs. We could consider a jobs plan that the president offered before this very body. But we won't. Because we have to go repeal health care again for the thirty-first time,” Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., said on the House floor.
“You would have thought the 17th time would be good. The 29th time. The 31st time is like they are going for a record or something,” Ellison said.
Democrats also argued that the Supreme Court’s ruling to preserve the law indicated that Republicans should turn to other issues.
“It's time for Republicans to move on,” Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Md., said.
Meanwhile, Republicans held firm in their stance on the issue -- an issue that helped usher in their majority with sweeping victories during the 2010 midterm elections. They contended that the high court only declared the law constitutional, not good policy.
“House Republicans promised the American people that if granted the majority, we would repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as ObamaCare,” House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., said during floor debate. “Let’s face it, ObamaCare is nothing like what was promised.”
Republicans insisted they would maintain their efforts to repeal the law.
“I have voted to repeal this 30 times, and I will keep doing it until we get it right,” Rep. Lee Terry, R-Neb., said.

SHERIFF JOE SET TO RELEASE MORE OBAMA 'SHOCKERS'/ WILL IT PUT POTUS ON THE RUN? Posted by Michael CHILDSPatriot Action Alerts
WND reported last month that a letter from Hawaii’s Department of Health verifying Obama’s birth in Honolulu has “opened the door” to some “shocking revelations” the posse is promising to disclose.File criminal charges against Obama and all involved with him, arrest them, perp walk him out of the WH and Eric Holder along with him and all his Administration. Try them as Foreign Traitors and send them to-Oh I don't know, maybe a deserted island.
Among the details leaked early by Cold Case Posse lead investigator Mike Zullo: There are allegedly several stamps bearing Registrar Alvin Onaka’s name “floating around” inside the Hawaii Department of Health.
“I can’t disclose to you what we’ve discovered, but it’s going to be a shocking revelation at our press conference,” Zullo told Tea Party Power Hour host Mark Gillar in a telephone interview from Hawaii.
Well we know that won't work, cause if it would it would have already been done.
None of that will dislodge our marxist Muslim President from Kenya from power. Holder and Obama's system of community organizations thugs and union goons are ready to perform a massive vote fraud in November. By the way, in Russian "community organization = soviet".
If in the long run, Obama is found to be ineledgible, what happens to all of the laws and executive orders that have been issued? Are the declared Void, or do they stand as law?
Is there criminal charges that can be filed against him for fraud or other charges?
Zullo has said he and his investigators have reservations about a letter stamped with Onaka’s name that was sent to Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett as verification of Obama’s Hawaiian birth. The no birth certificate Hussein Obama is a fraud and a creep from Kenya, and Congress is to blame for not checking his records sealed or not, before he was sworn it!!
Zulllo said the letter fails to list Obama’s birth date, and it’s merely stamped with the registrar’s name, while another set of initials – not Onaka’s – appears next to the signature.
“From what you’re telling me,” Gillar said, “it sounds like the next press conference is going to be even more amazing than the last press conference back on March 1st.”
“It will be,” Zullo responded. “The information … is going to be breathtaking when it’s released.”
The cleaning and oiling my guns at this moment,I say everybody have them ready.
The CHICAGO TWO ARE HERE TO STAY,UNTIL WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
It would be great if we could get rid of Obama , his cabinet before Election , I'm sure Joe Arpaio is doing a great job and is an insperation for a lot of others in Law enforcement.
There is other "black backlash" which will happen if OBAMA is removed from White House. There just might be race riots like none before, not in one or two cities but all major cities across the nation. Al & Jess will stir the pot more by telling more lies about his removal from power.
He came to America as an exchange student with NOTHING! He NEVER worked on a real job, had NO means of support except for OTHER PEOPLES MONEY, he had NO HOME, no assets, no property, no experience, was unknown except to his "creators" and radical faction friends,
NO HISTORY that we could use for REFERENCE to gauge his character and ability to SERVE Americas needs! NO POLITICAL EXPERTISE, NO PAST to show his accomplishments if any, and absolutely NOTHING TANGIBLE that would show WHO he is, WHAT he is, and WHERE he had BEEN! Sheriff JOE! WHY on EARTH would you want to EXAMINE the PAST of someone the LOONY LEFT LIBERALS have already accepted, sight unseen(a few short years ago) with open arms! And PURSES! OOPS! "OPEN PURSES" was for his FIRST campaign! OBVIOUSLY, the "LLL" doesn't REALIZE that their Messiah was CREATED, GROOMED, TUTORED, PREPARED and "BOUGHT" here (no, not brought) for THE AGENDA of radical, rebel, billionaire OIL Barons and his American friends who HATE us! Who are deliberately and effectively, turning our Country into a FAR LEFT LEANING society that will ultimately spell our doom! AND thrill our adversaries!
AMERICA WE MUST VOTE OBAMA OUT COME THIS NOVEMBER!!!!

Obama campaign call affirms money anxiety
By Emily Heil, Published: July 1
The pitch also affirmed the campaign’s anxiety about lagging behind in the money race.
In the conference call made late Friday from a special campaign phone on Air Force One, a recording of which was obtained by the Daily Beast, Obama bemoaned the anonymous super PAC donations flowing to his Republican opponent, Mitt Romney.
“If things continue as they have so far, I’ll be the first sitting president in modern history to be outspent in his reelection campaign,” he said, according to the report.
If Democrats didn’t write checks, Obama warned, such Republican PACs could permanently alter the political landscape. “The special interests that are financing my opponent’s campaign are just going to consolidate themselves,” he said. “They’re gonna run Congress and the White House.”
Obama was candid and contemplative in the 18-minute call with donors who had given him the maximum allowable amount in his last campaign, addressing concerns that some supporters might be less enthusiastic — and generous — than they were four years ago.
“In 2008 everything was new and exciting about our campaign,” Obama told the unidentified donors, according to the Daily Beast. “And now I’m the incumbent president. I’ve got gray hair. People have seen disappointment because folks had a vision of change happening immediately. And it turns out change is hard, especially when you’ve got an obstructionist Republican Congress.”
Such fundraising pitches aren’t unusual, since candidates seek to keep donors from feeling complacent, and Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt characterized the conference call as “routine.” But it echoes the urgent tone the Obama campaign has struck in recent appeals, which have raised the specter of Romney holding a significant cash advantage over Obama. “I will be outspent,” read the subject line of a Tuesday e-mail Obama sent his supporters.
The call from Air Force One, which apparently ran afoul of no laws governing the separation of official and campaign business, came just hours before the Saturday deadline for reporting June donations.
And it was on the heels of what turned out to be a fundraising boon for Romney: the former Massachusetts governor’s campaign claims to have taken in $4.6 million during the 24 hours after the Supreme Court’s decision on Thursday to uphold the Affordable Care Act. The Obama campaign claims that it, too, raked in money after the decision, though the campaignhas not revealed how much.
Obama has benefited from Democratic super PACs, but they have trailed their GOP counterparts in amassing funds.
The Romney campaign raised more than Obama in May and a senior Obama official predicted to reporters two weeks ago that Romney could raise $100 million in June.
For a campaign that had the luxury of vastly outspending Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) four years ago, the prospect of being on the other side of a torrent of money has become the second-biggest worry, after the state of the economy — which is expected to be voters’ No. 1 concern.

Remember!
Tomorrow is Independence Day! What does that mean to you? What should it mean to your children. If you do nothing else on July 4th, take a minute to tell your children, grand children or any young person who is willing to hear, what it means. We have been the greatest Nation, we can be again. Our Liberty is only an election away from leaving but, it can also be recaptured. Let's make it a day to educate and remind each other what it is we celebrate.
